Every Family Needs to Put Extra Care into Shoes
It’s a new school year and while heading into our local Walmart to pick up pencils, lunch bags, and new school shoes for my oldest, we also ventured to the shoe department to pick up the KIWI® Sneaker Care System. Hand-me-downs are a big part of family life. Our boys are very close in age, so usually, when one outgrows clothes or shoes, it gets passed down to the next one. Let’s face it, kids are tough on shoes. To make shoes last, we will use the KIWI® Sneaker Care System. From new shoes to re-loved pairs, the three-step system makes shoes look like new throughout the whole school year! Jaxxin’s shoes from last year were in such good condition, I didn’t have to buy any for Logan—savings are always a mom win!
Thoughts for this School Year
While it’s already the second-year back for Jaxxin, this is Logan’s first year back to school—and I’m honestly feeling a little nervous. We’ve had so much fun this summer, going to soccer practices, on family road trips, and the beach, I’m a little sad to have an empty nest. I decided to fill up my plate and also work on finishing my degree! I’ve been so excited to go back and make my boys proud.
The KIWI® Sneaker Care System is not only perfect for making sure our boys look their best for school, but I also found myself using it on my shoes as well. I am white sneaker obsessed—I don’t own any other colors! As I commute to and from school, work, home, preschool, and sports, my shoes are faced with a lot. I want to keep them looking their best, so I protect them with KIWI® Sneaker Protector, too. So far they are still looking great, as are the boy’s shoes.
How to Clean Soiled Shoes
Step 1: KIWI® Sneaker Cleaner
Start by wetting the shoe with a wet rag or paper towel. We want to try and remove whatever dirt and grime that we can. Next, open your KIWI® Sneaker Cleaner by pushing the pin in the center of the sponge down. Now comes the actual cleaning part—we’re going to brush tiny circles and focus on the stains and dirt on the shoe. I love that KIWI® Sneaker Cleaner is so easy and convenient to use. Once finished brushing away the stains, wipe off the residue on the surface of the shoe with a clean wet cloth. Allow the shoes to dry for 30 min. before wearing or applying a protector.
Step 2: KIWI® Sneaker Protector
After completing step one (or with a brand-new pair of shoes), set the shoes on a flat surface. Remove the cap from the bottle and aim the nozzle about 7-10 inches away from the shoe. I find it easiest to start at the back of the shoe and work your way around clockwise. Allow shoes to dry for one hour. For safety, I always apply a second time, just in case I missed a spot during the first application. Be sure to let them dry for another hour before wearing to ensure the protector has dried!
Step 3: KIWI® Sneaker Deodorizer
Hand me down, sports, and tennis shoes REALLY love this step. We know sneakers get stinky, especially when kids are wearing them in phys ed or to sports practices. The sneaker deodorizer works to make the sneakers smell fresh. Simply twist the cap to unlock, place in the heel with the larger opening pointing towards the toe, and push down! The deodorizer will disperse inside and remove lingering odor.
For Reloved and Soiled Shoes
Whether we buy the shoes from a second-hand family shop, pass them down from oldest to youngest, or give soiled shoes a new life, the three-step KIWI® shoe care system makes dirty shoes look (and smell) brand new. The process takes only a few minutes and is a quick and easy way to keep your shoes looking their best.
For New Shoes
Before we send out the boys in any new sneakers, tennis shoes, or running shoes, I always protect them first. Kids will be kids and it can be a bit difficult to keep them on the clean path. Right out of the shoe box, I spray the shoes with KIWI® Sneaker Protector. The Sneaker Protector keeps the elements from staining the fabric of the shoes. It’s every white sneaker’s BFF—keeping them squeaky clean!
The beginning of a new school year has always been my favorite time of the year. I was so excited that Logan was able to join in all the fun this year. I remember my favorite part of going back to school was picking out a cool pair of sneakers to show off to all my friends. After cleaning up Logan’s sneakers for this year, I couldn’t wait to show him his new shoes!
What is your favorite part of a new school year?
