I never expected that my hair would just start falling out…

My Hair Loss Story

I started losing my hair about two years ago today. Postpartum hair loss snuck up on me right around my sons first birthday. During pregnancy my body gave me long and luscious hair. Sadly, after only a few months, it all started to fall out and break away. Paired with the postpartum hair loss I started to suffer from severe hair damage from coloring and styling. Now, I wasn’t too sure if it was too strong of a product or an inexperienced colorist, but after a few visits to a new salon, something wasn’t right. My hair is naturally a dark brown, but for years I’ve been lightening it a platinum blonde. To achieve this look, my colorist uses a bleach mixture to lighten the hair to the lightest possible shade. A trip to a new salon with an incorrect mix of chemicals leads to intense damage to my hair. Most of the strands began to break off almost right at my scalp! I already had the shortest pieces, but now I was left with hair that reached barely an inch in length.

The Best Solution for Hair Loss

As I was facing both extensive hair damage and postpartum hair loss, I really needed a solution that handled both issues. Viviscal offers supplements (the Viviscal Extra Strength supplements) to encourage thicker, fuller-looking hair and a full everyday line, the Vivivscal Gorgeous Growth Densifying Range. I had tried regular supplements from the vitamin aisle, but I hadn’t noticed any difference. It frankly felt like a waste of my money. As I was shopping for a new solution, I stumbled upon the Viviscal website. What caught my eye was their trademarked formula – which I know had a great reputation in the hair supplement market! It is a clinically proven supplement that gives you thicker, fuller-looking hair from within and may also prevent hair shedding. The supplement works from the inside-out to nourish thinning hair.

After taking 2 pills per day for 3 months I started to feel a difference. I was finally sprouting baby hairs in my bald patches! My breakthrough moment was when I was finally able to pull my hair back without feeling like everyone would be staring at my uneven receding hairline.

6 Month Hair Loss Update

Today marks the 6-month point in my Viviscal journey. I can’t even believe that at one point I was almost bald! I am proud and comfortable to wear my hair in a ponytail or just pulled back. My bald patches are slowly blending in with the rest of my hair. I plan on continuing my daily regimen of the Viviscal Extra Strength Supplement. I also fell in love with their hair care system too – the Gorgeous Growth Densifying Shampoo, Conditioner, and Elixir have helped stop the damage and begin to repair it. I loved my Viviscal Gorgeous Growth Densifying Elixir which, like the other products, are available at Shopper’s Drug Mart. It’s the ultimate, lightweight, body-boosting leave-in treatment for thicker-looking hair. Unlike most leave-in treatments, it doesn’t leave hair feeling oily or weighed down. It helps hair look fuller and helps with volume and body – all while nourishing hair with Iron, Biotin, and Zinc.

While waiting for the supplements to take effect, I was also using the Toppik Hair Building Fibers to disguise any areas around my scalp that were thinning or more patchy. It blended really naturally with my existing hair and gave me back the thicker hairline I felt like I lost. It also comes with a handy little comb that has a unique design that allows for a natural-looking hairline every time.

How I Repaired Damaged Hair

From over bleaching, styling, and teasing, my hair started to break easily. As I was blow drying my hair I would see parts of the strands flying all over the room. I had to give up blow-drying all together at that point.

I felt so frustrated when I started to find the bald patches – all I wanted to do was to hide them from the world. There was nothing I wasn’t willing to do to comb over and cover up those patches. All of that product, heat, and harsh brushing, actually started to damage my hair. Since my hair was already damaged, it only made my situation worse. As the damage increased, the amount of hair I had left started to decrease – it’s a vicious cycle!
