Summer Travelling with Diono Traverze + Stroller Review

“Aruba, Jamaica ooh I wanna take ya!”

Travelling is one of my absolute favorite things in the world. I feel like I don’t get to do enough of it. The times I have traveled in the past I have always lived it up. I’m a sightseeing type of traveler and I love to get out and explore. Unfortunately, our far travel plans are delayed due to Brandon’s surgery recovery – but we are still going to make the most of our local area! Diono gifted us their beautiful Traverze stroller this summer for our travels.
I’m pretty excited because we’ve made a pact to explore more of our local tourist spots – the ones that we don’t get to see usually. Ontario is such a beautiful province and there are so many fun attractions. Some of the few we are looking forward to are:

• Terre Bleu Lavender Farm
• Sand Banks Park
• Clifton Hill
• Toronto Zoo
• Blue Mountain
• Toronto Island

The Diono Traverze is THE stroller for traveling families. It’s compact and perfect for on the go life. It has an extendable luggage-style handle for easy transportation and a hideaway protective cover – it even fits in most overhead cabins* and compact cars. So luckily for us, it’s the perfect stroller to bring with us on our summer adventures.

Features that I loved

The Traverze stroller comes in a compact and convenient little size. Once you open up the stroller you will find a rain cover and a stroller cover. The rain cover shields your child from the elements and is placed over the top of the stroller – a great freebie! The stroller cover is perfect for when you are traveling and need to store it away. If you are boarding a plane, it’s a great piece of mind so that your stroller/contents in the basket aren’t damaged or stolen.

Size

I’m kind of obsessed with how small it folds up. We have 2 other strollers, a jogger, and a 2-piece Stokke – which are both massive, like huge and heavy. They take up the entire entrance of our house and the entirety of our trunk. The Diono Traverze is so cute and compact, it folds up perfectly and can be stored in our tiny entry closet. The stroller has a quick and easy opening/folding system – so easy that it can be done with one hand!

It is light and weighs less than 12.3lbs/5.6kg. Living in a condo, I greatly appreciate space savers. Even when the stroller is open, it doesn’t take up a lot of room. We have the black Traverze and I absolutely love the style. It looks chic and ergonomic. The fabric is durable and soft on the seat. The rain cover hood is strong and has a little pop out.

Seat

The seat is reclinable. It, however, does not fully recline or fully sits up. I always got the feeling that Logan was somewhat uncomfortable. He likes to sit up and have all his attention on the road. Times that he fell asleep in the stroller, I couldn’t let him lay down fully.

Usability

Personally, I don’t like to think that products only have one use. I’d like to think that they can be used in different settings, by various users and times of the year. Kind of like the convertible kids’ bed – it’s able to be more than just a crib, it’s also a toddler bed and then a queen-sized bed. The Traverze stroller is meant to be a stroller just for traveling – it’s compact size keeps it to be just a stroller for traveling.

We worked with it for a few weeks as our everyday stroller. The stroller that we kept in our car to help us bring up groceries and the baby, the stroller to go on walks through our backyard – but unfortunately, it didn’t compare to our real stroller. The compact size is what limits it to a travel stroller. The wheel type and basket size just didn’t match well with our everyday life.

Drive

The wheels are smooth rolling and never flat, but not compatible with parks and it’s many terrains. The drive is very smooth on an indoor even surface – I’m able to push the stroller with one hand and turn in every direction. It’s perfect to bring to indoor amusement parks or the airport.

Basket

The basket is sized to be extra-large. When we are traveling with our usual stroller, we were able to fit one of our carry-on suitcases in the basket – in my opinion, that can be defined as an extra-large basket. The traverse basket is somewhat small. I was barely able to fit (it did fit once I squished down all the contents) our diaper bag which is the size of a classic backpack. While traveling, I could see some issues arising, especially if I were to be traveling alone. Small items like a purse, toys, snack or a jacket could be kept in the basket. There is this cool feature that allows the basket to be accessible even if the stroller is folded. While folded and being pulled like luggage, the basket can open, and its contents can be accessed.

Do I recommend this stroller to you?

If you are traveling, then absolutely. Like I mentioned, it’s definitely not your everyday stroller. There are some features that limit it to just being a travel stroller. That being said, I love it as a travel stroller. Its light, compact and easy to use. With one hand I can open it and push it around. I’m also able to fold it and pull it as a luggage when my baby doesn’t want to sit inside.
