Baby Read with Me – Classes at the Library

Today, we had our weekly trip to the Library – yay! That meant that mama had a reason to go to Starbucks and get her classic latte and cake pop. Lately, Starbucks is the only thing that can wake me up in the morning – even if I have decaf! That shouldn’t make sense, but it does.

Our local library offers weekly baby reading classes. We’ve been going for the past 2 weeks and I have to say – they are probably more fun for me than for Logan. The instructor will read a couple of kids stories, sing some songs, and will teach us some rhymes to practice at home. We get to dance around the room with the babies and they love it! I have a lot of fun – Logan is usually amazed just by the other babies in the class. He stares and at them with such excitement – I think he might be starting to recognize some of his little friends.

I love to see other babies! Even more fun I love to watch Logan interact and look at other babies. Last week we made a couple of friends – and today we planned a stroller walk for later in the week. I’ve had such a hard time making friends since we moved. I’m not the best at social interaction – I hate to admit but I’m more shy than I would like. I’ve been trying to come out of my shell more – and all my introverts will know – it’s really hard!

I have 0 mommy friends (besides family) – so I’ve been going to a bunch of mommy and me classes trying to find some! I find that I am usually the youngest mama in the class. It sometimes makes it hard to talk to other moms. I feel like they don’t take me seriously when I show up in my velvet boots and lace choker.

On a serious side I really love these classes. The best part is that a public health nurse comes to each meeting. Each week she will cover important milestones that our babies should be reaching.

In Toronto, these programs are free with the Toronto Public Library Dates and times vary by each location.
