DIY Moana Halloween Costume – How to Make a Flower Headband

Moana (Monika) you’ve come so far, Moana (Monika), do you know who you are?

I love Moana so much! This is seriously one of my favorite Disney movies of all time! I didn’t think that anything could replace Lilo & Stitch, but every time she sings with the Grandma… I LOSE IT.

I also love the girl power message that Moana gives young girls today. She sticks to herself and saves her village. I think we need more girl power kids movies like that.

Who’s your favorite Disney Princess?

What You Need for the Costume:

  • Red – Scarf, Tube Top, Bandana
  • White – Cloth, Towel
  • Necklace with white and blue pendant
  • Optional:
  • Curling iron
  • Beach wave spray
  • Ore
  • Chicken Doll

The Moana Inspiration:

I loved Moana’s character and costume for the whole movie. My favorite part was at the end of the movie when she was wearing the flower crown – Mainly because I love the scene with the Green Earth Mother and when she restores their village.

What You’ll Need:

  • Headband
  • Fake leaves
  • Fake pink flowers
  • Hot glue gun
  • Small sponge

How to Make the Moana Headband:

Step 1 – Pick the flowers and leaves off of the stem

Step 2 – Turn on the hot glue gun, glue the sponge to the center of the headband

Step 3 – Start gluing the fake leaves around the sponge. Place them around the sponge like a border, leaving room in the center for the flowers.

Step 4 – Once the leaves are on, start gluing the flowers in the center of the headband

***The glue dries within a couple seconds, but give the headband a few minutes to cool down. It’s better to wait than to have it glued to your head!***

“There comes a day when you’re gonna look around and realize happiness is where you are” -Moana
