WE MADE IT…

About our Trip

So this whole mini trip was kind of stressful. This trip was partially pleasure, but mainly for business. The company that Brandon and I have together, UWWWEB – an online marketing company for dentists, lawyers, and accountants, was going to its first tradeshow, the Pacific Dental Conference. This conference is massive, over 350 exhibits and tens of thousands of dentists and dental professionals. It was quite an investment for us and kind of a really big deal. We’ve been building our business for so long and we’re finally at the point where we can invest and grow it way more.

Business Trip at the PDC in Vancouver

So we headed to Vancouver for the PDC, but also for a little family getaway – and when I say little, I mean we had about 1.5 days in total to spend exploring the city. Since we would be working for 3 days straight, we decided to invite my mom to join us. She’s never been anywhere in Canada besides the cities near Toronto and Ottawa. Plus, she really wanted to come on this mini vacation with us. We were so thankful and still are that she came with us. Because of her, we were able to create so many memories with Logan and her – this trip would not have been fun at all if she didn’t come with us.

Restaurants in Vancouver

We tried only 2-3 new restaurants. The Cactus Club Cafe is the most popular restaurant in Vancouver. Luckily it was walking distance from our hotel, the Coast Coal Harbor Hotel, and also the Vancouver Convention Centre. The prices were fair, and I’m not sure if we were just that hungry after our first day, but holy guacamole, their food was amazing. We each ordered an app and a main and managed to eat everything. They also had a very yummy Caesar! My other favorite restaurant was the Vancouver equivalent of a Taco Bell, I don’t remember the name, but it hit the spot for lunch while we were working.

Fun Things to do in Vancouver

I did so much planning and research before we went (partially about the conference), mainly about amazing restaurants in Vancouver, things to do in Vancouver, and of course the best places to shop. Vancouver is somewhat on the coast of Canada, so I really wanted to do something fun in nature. I found Capilano Bridge, a huge suspension bridge and treetop adventure just north of Vancouver.

My mom is super afraid of heights like straight up didn’t want to go. But because we only had one short day to do something all together, I forced her (lovingly) to come with us. There is a quick shuttle with stops around Vancouver to the bridge and it doesn’t cost extra. The Capilano Bridge is more than just one bridge, there are almost 20 bridges throughout the trees that give you a beautiful green view. There are also little totem polls and learning areas for kids throughout.

Will We Go Back to Vancouver?

We had a few really stressful days of work. From talking to hundreds of people and standing for 8 hours, then going back to our hotel to hang out with Logan and my mom. We had to give her a bit of a break and at the end of the day, we were all literally dead. Especially because of the time difference, we were running on empty. Overall, we had a great time at the conference, and I think we will be back next year. A big part of my job in the marketing department is getting ready for the tradeshow. I had to order all of our materials, decor, and register for everything. About 6 months of planning finally paid off and I’m just happy everything went smoothly.
