Teaching Our Toddler to Swim with SwimWays Swim Steps

As the summer begins we’re spending more time around the water. On our best days you can find us beside the beach, playground wading pool, or at the swimming pool. Now that Logan is getting older, he wants to be in the water 24/7. He has so much fun splashing in the water! However, as he wants to go deeper and deeper, I know it’s time to start swim training.

Our Past Swim Training

Our son is already really confident getting in the water – but sometimes staying upright can be a challenge. We started infant swim classes when he was just a few months old to help make sure he is always comfortable in the water. As he has gotten older, his love for swimming has only grown. This summer I really wanted to take a hands on approach with my husband and help our son learn to swim and kick comfortably.

For the summer, we picked up the Swim Vest by SwimWays. The Swim Vest is a secure flotation device that supports children just starting to explore the water.

Our Goals for Teaching Our Toddler to Swim

Stay Comfortable – he’s already really comfortable getting in the water and trying to swim. I want to make sure he continues to feel okay and doesn’t develop a fear of the water. The adjustable leg strap ensures the vest stays in place for a comfortable fit, and the front zipper with safety closure allows for easy on and easy off at the pool.

Be Safe – every parents goal right? I want to make sure he is always safe in the water. The vest features permanent and sturdy foam inserts inside the vest and a soft and comfortable cover. The SwimWays Swim Vest also provides UPF50+ sun protection.

Set Him Up for the Future – as he gets older, he’s going to be able to start to swim on his own. I want to give him the proper foundation and set him up with the right techniques for the future. The Swim Vest helps to build confidence as your child learns to float upright and lean forward to paddle.

Why Parents Love SwimWays Swim Steps

How cute is my little shark on one of our days at the lake?!

He’s having so much fun practicing swimming on his own while wearing his Swim Trainer Life Jacket. I love it because of the sleek design and how easy it is for him to wear. Once I put it on him, it’s usually on for the day at the lake. Which is great even when he’s running back and forth filling up his sand toys with water. I feel at ease knowing he would be able to prop himself up with the floatation device in his SwimWays vest to keep him safe.

For over 50 years, SwimWays has been helping families learn to swim and feel safe in the water. A brand I grew up with is now a brand that I trust with my kids. They offer swim devices for every kids skill level starting with baby boats and all the way up to kick boards and masks. SwimWays Swim Steps swimming devices and accessories can be found at Target, Walmart, and on Amazon.
