Top 10 Spring and Summer 2018 Fashion Trends to Follow

Let’s get Trendy

Fashion month has come to an end. I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve been obsessed with fashion week since I was in 6th grade and my mom bought me my first issue of Vogue. I’ve been watching the shows online and drooling over the fashions ever since. Spring and Summer fashion is definitely my favorite. I love all of the pretty colors, florals and dresses that the warm seasons bring. There are a few trends that come back every year – but I get so excited when new styles are introduced. In the new 2018 Spring and Summer style season we are going to see a few fun new trends, and some reinvented trends from decades past. My list of the most popular trends to follow gives you easy inspiration for all of your Spring and Summer shopping trips!

I’ve narrowed down the most noteworthy trends from the runways of fashion month here:

Florals

Florals are a Spring and Summer must – they’re in tune with the seasons. Florals that are trending this year are inspired by the 60s and 70s fashion. The prints are bold, strong and groovy. All major designers featured some type of floral in their line.

Pastels

Pastels are going to be everywhere. Coming out of the dark and cold winter, it’s a nice way to warm up. The most popular color of the pastels being this pretty Lilac / Lavender. Many different designers used lavender in their lines during the Spring/Summer Fashion Weeks. I have to say, I can’t get enough of it. A total look of lavender and pastels calls for a calm spring day.

Straw Everything

[ Shop the Trend ]

From hats to bags, straw is going to be a big trend again this Spring and Summer fashion season. Last year, the Cult Gaia bamboo clutches were a big trend. Every fashion blogger was carrying one. This year straw bags are back – the circle straw bag is going to be a huge trend. They were all over the runway in Fashion Week. Varying in sizes and styles, you can find these bags in many retailers.
Straw hats are coming back again – just in time for that bad hair day. On the runways they were dramatically oversized, but you can sport a cute straw hat from the park to the beach. I always loved the look of the straw hat with the cute summer dress. It makes me think of the perfect summer in the Hamptons. Let’s not forget about the cute hats with slogans on them.

Plaid

Last season, Gingham was a big hit – from dresses to swimsuits. This Spring and Summer Fashion season, plaid is making a comeback. Plaid was a big trend in the Fall and Winter Fashion Seasons – we’ve loved it so much that it’s staying hot. My favorite 2 plaid style that are in trend now is the small black and white print (that is mostly on pant suits – want) and the red plaid.

Rainbow Prints

Fashion is a global thing. Politics and current events influence fashion. The Pride and Love is Love movement have been growing. The LGBTQ+ community’s voice is being heard, and designers are listening up. Rainbow prints and color blocking is a bold print for this coming style season. You can show your support by standing with their community and wearing rainbow colors.

Fanny Packs

Luxury designers like Gucci started to bring back the fanny pack trend last season, and it’s starting to catch on. Fanny packs are not only chic, but totally handy. They’re perfect for a day of travelling and exploring to keep you hands free and engaged.

Sheer

This is a trend that might seem a bit difficult to wear – it can be a little risqué. A way to remedy that is to find sheer pieces that are not sheer in private areas. For example, tops can be worn with a pretty bralette or cami – dresses can be worn with a slip – skirts can be worn with shorts. The sheer trend can make for a very feminine and pretty styled outfit.

High Wasted

I am absolutely in love with this style of pant that is coming into trend. I love any bottoms that are high wasted because they are so comfortable! This style of high wasted pant is so flattering. If you find the pair with the elongated legs and flair bottoms, buy them! Trust me. I tried on this gorgeous pair and felt like a supermodel instantly. They give you this chic look while being extremely comfortable.
Pencil Skirts were in so many designers line this fashion season too. A pencil skirt is a great piece to class up an outfit. They’re perfect for the office, church or a fun date night!

Trench Coats

Trench coats are a closet staple. Many designers have added fair and new styles to the trench coat. The classic nude/khaki trench coat will always be in fashion. Please pick one up immediately for your closet!

Polka Dots

Polka dots are my calling! I seriously love anything black and white with polka dots. It reminds me of my favorite fashion era – the 1940s and the cute styles of the house wives. Polka dots are a fun way to add a simple statement to your outfit. This print can be found in almost of the trendy pieces for Spring and Summer 2018.
