3 Products You NEED to Apply Before Doing Your Makeup

I love caking on my makeup. Every single day I need contour, falsies, highlight, lips and statement eyeshadow. I live for feeling like a movie star on the red carpet… Like seriously, less is not more, I need full glam all day every day.

In case you missed my everyday glam make up tutorial HERE.

Products You Should Apply Before Doing Your Makeup

Recently, I realized that prepping, is just as important as the application. If the cake isn’t fluffy, what’s the point of icing? The skin is the largest organ of the body. The key to having a flawless makeup application, is having a flawless canvas to apply makeup to. This doesn’t mean blemish or pimple free – it means skin that is clean, healthy and able to be marinated.

Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is amazing for your skin! It should be used after cleansing the face as a natural astringent (toner). It removes any makeup that isn’t washed off with a cleanser. This is one of my favorite all-natural skin care products – Plus, it’s cheaper than most toners that can be purchased at a drug store. You can buy it in the first aid section for under $5 per bottle.

Witch hazel also works AMAZINGLY as a natural primer, so feel free to skip the primer today!

How to apply: After thoroughly cleansing your skin, soak a cotton makeup pad with witch hazel. Apply to your whole face and let dry.

Serum

If you aren’t using serum, your skin is missing out! Serum is a product you apply to your skin after washing but before moisturizing to deliver powerful ingredients directly into the skin. There are hundreds of serums depending on your skin type and skin goals. I use vitamin C+E face serum – it brightens and heals acne scars. This is the $16 one I USE.

HERE’s an online quiz to find out which serum is for you!

How to apply: apply a few drops all over your face (depending on the serum) and massage into the skin.

Moisturizer Combo

Moisturizer is so important! A moisturizer combo with SPF will protect your skin from sun damage. Having a good moisturizer can keep you skin healthy and wrinkle free – Coming from my mama who is wrinkle free and gorgeous at 60.

How to apply: after the serum has dried, apply the moisturizer to your face.

Personally, I believe it is so important to protect our skin from makeup. As much as I love my makeup (and I do) there are so many chemicals and parabens that can damage your skin. If you properly prep your face before applying makeup, you can avoid potential wrinkles, damage and acne.

Now you skin is prepped, glowing, gorgeous and ready for GLAM TIME!
