How to Make Any Outfit Festive for the Holidays – 55+ Festive Styles

Just because I’m going to a holiday party at work, it doesn’t mean that I want to be rocking an ugly Christmas sweater and some elf stockings. I love getting dressed up and looking festive during the holidays. I find that I can make just about any old outfit festive just by adding a few sweet touches. Festive Holiday outfits don’t have to be the traditional red, white and green. They can be super stylish and chic, just like your everyday style. I find that my favorite way to style a festive outfit is to find a way to incorporate just one of those colors into my outfit.

How to Make Any Outfit Festive for the Holidays

Colors

Pops of the classic holiday colors: red, white, and green make any outfit look festive!

Sparkle

I love to get extra sparkly and glittery around the holidays, just like my Christmas tree! It’s an extra fun way to make any outfit shine brightly at a holiday party or work event.

Accessories

Having accessories that glitter and shine, are one of the classic holiday colors, or make a statement can bring your look into the holiday season!

Makeup

I think that throwing on a red lip always makes your outfit complete! Red lipstick is the perfect way to dress up any old outfit and make it a little more seductive and glamorous.

Scent

If all else fails I always add a yummy holiday scent. One of my favorites is the Vanilla Baked Cookies body spray from Bath and Body Works. It always makes people think that I’ve spent the day baking Christmas Cookies. They have a few new scents for the holidays too. I think that anything peppermint, vanilla, or gingerbread always makes you smell and seem all festive.

Outfit Details:

This outfit could have been really basic and office appropriate if I had paired it with just a plain black skirt and eliminated the headscarf. Adding in the pops of red made this outfit perfect for any holiday event.

This is one of my favorite outfits from the fall, that I accessorized to look holiday-ified. This sweater is so warm and is perfectly oversized for the season. It also has the cute detail of the oversized bell sleeves.

This skirt I found at a thrift store and it’s just perfectly red and bold. I bought it with the intention of wearing with a magenta blouse but actually loved it so much more for the holidays. I was waiting to pair it with the perfect outfit and I’m glad I waited.

I just bought myself this little Burberry purse and it is everything 6-year-old me ever wanted. When I was growing up in the early 2000, the mini bag trend was super-hot! I loved stealing my sisters’ mini bags and hiding all my Polly Pockets in them. I found this one on Bag Borrow or Steal for under $200 and I was like sold! I’m so excited to finally get to wear it.

I love head scarves – They are also a huge trend right now.
