It’s finally up, and it’s staying up…
Tips for Creating the Perfect Gallery Wall in Your Family Room
- Decide on a theme – personally, I like minimalism or professionalism (if that’s the right word…). I really wanted the gallery wall to be clean cut and perfect. I went with frames that were the exact same size and color. I was also particularly anal about hanging them perfectly straight and in line with the door, which is what I imagine they do in a real gallery.
- Purchase all frames before starting to hang – don’t do the “I’ll add to it later” sort of decorating. The wall will always look unfinished and make you cringe when you look at it.
- Plan it out – Lay out all your frames on the floor and take a look before you start to hang.
- Use a level – for the love of guacamole. There is nothing that I hate more than an unleveled picture or painting on the wall. Use a level and make it straight.
- Use damage-free hanging – on the same note as above, use the damage free picture hanging strips. In case you hang one in the wrong spot or you don’t like the final look, you can always move it without leaving a huge hole in your wall.
- Stay true to your decor tastes – as I mentioned, we really like the minimal and modern type of deco. I think if we had different sized and colored frames it just wouldn’t look right.
- Pick pictures that make you happy – they’re going to be up there for a while. So, choose pictures that make you smile when you look at them. I printed my favorite memories from the past 6 years, and let’s be honest, they all include Logan.
