I need to start this post off by saying that I have been wearing hair extensions since I was in the 8th grade. At that time I had no idea what hair extensions were and why they needed to be in my hair. All I knew was that my friends were all wearing them and it seemed really cool. Over the years, I think I’ve had just about every type of hair extension in the books – tape ins, clip-ins, fusion, I’ve had them all.
A few years ago I saw a TV commercial for Halo Hair Extensions. I think it was on the shopping network. And just like everything I see on the shopping network, I think its too good to be true. I figured that Halo Hair Extensions were just another gimmicky way for companies to sell hair extensions. I didn’t really think anything of it. A few months ago as I was taking my tape ins out, I really noticed the damage on my hair. I have a bunch of bald spots and really short pieces from having to cut the glueballs out of my hair. After taking them out the last time, I swore against them forever.
I ordered some clip ins from Amazon and they weren’t bad. The color was a bit off at first, but purple shampoo did the trick. The only problem with the clip ins was that the hair wefts are really thin. I have to put in all of the clip in pieces for the hair to look full and not scraggly. But my fellow thin hair girls will know that thin hair BARELY covers the extensions. So, if I want my extensions not to show, I have to pin my natural hair back and over the extensions.
At a bridal show I went to recently I saw a booth for the Halo Hair Extensions. They were offering free consultations so I figured, why not? Let me tell you. As soon as that girl put the hair on my head I felt like a different person. The thing about Halo Hair Extensions is that they are able to put A LOT of hair into a small piece. The result is full, long and beautiful.
I really, really wanted to buy it. But their price tag was insane, their discounted rate for being at a trade show was $800 – WAAAAY more than I have ever spent on hair. I think the max I’ve spent is $200. I’ve always bought cheaper hair and colored it, sewn it and cut it myself to save money. When I had brown hair, it was okay, but blonde thinning hair? Not a chance.
I was searching online for a really beautiful halo that I:
- Didn’t have to cut to fit my hair
- Didn’t have to color to match my hair
- Would last for a few years
- Wasn’t a thousand dollars…
My Before and After with Halo Hair Extensions:
I found this amazing company Hidden Crown Extensions on Instagram with a hashtag actually. The picture I found showed a before and after just like mine! I went on their website and figured that their hair had to be just as expensive, if not more than the trade show.
BUT IT WASN’T
I wanted to get the longest, blondest and fullest Halo Hair Extension that they had. I chose the HC LAYERS 22 INCH EXTENSIONS IN #60A BLONDE.
These extensions come in colored with highlights and low lights. They aren’t just one tone like most hair extension packages. They also come already cut with layers to look more natural. The HC layers 22 inch is a total 170 grams of hair and let me tell you, it’s full, long and so beautiful. I literally almost cried when I tried it on the first time.
I’ve never had hair this long and perfect before. One thousand percent it is worth the investment.
About the Halo Hair Extensions:
You customize the halo to fit your head. They provide you with this little tool and size it so that it fits perfectly to your skull. Since it’s perfectly fitted to you, it will not move once you put it on. The hair is 100% Remy Hair so it’s amazing quality and beautiful. The hair holds really well. I don’t know if it’s just me but my hair falls about 2 seconds after I curl it. I curled mine about 3 weeks ago and it’s still perfect.
They are just about the easiest extensions to put in. You just have to part your hair, put the Halo Hair Extensions on and then brush your hair together.
Since the Halo Hair Extensions just rest on your head, they don’t damage your hair at all. They aren’t pulling or being glued to your hair to damage it. My favorite part is that you can take them out at the end of the day. I always hated sleeping with extensions because it’s so uncomfortable. Then in the morning, you have a rats nest that takes hours to style. The hidden crown stays styled and can be put on in about 2 minutes plus however long it takes you to style your hair.
The Hidden Crown team was so helpful too. I had no idea what color extensions I should choose. You just have to send their experts a picture of your hair in natural light and they suggest the best color for you! So simple, my color matches perfectly.
