67+ Practical and Useful Gifts for New and Expecting Parents

Congratulations to the new mama and dada to be!

Becoming a parent is one of the scariest most exciting time of your life. I still remember when I pee’d on that stick and then freaked out for the next week while I kept it a secret from Brandon. I feel like everyone is popping up on my feed right now with the cutest baby announcements and I’m like dang, kinda getting that baby fever over here. The holidays are the best time to announce your pregnancy and also the best time to have a new baby! That first Christmas as a new family is so special and can’t be forgotten. This Christmas we’re welcoming 2 new cousins for Loggy and we can’t wait to meet them! Hopefully, they will be here soon 🙂 I’m sharing some perfect gifts for the new and expecting parents, along with some of my favorites as a first-time mom. At the end of this post, you’ll find a sweet giveaway with some fun Diono accessories!

Practical and Useful Gifts for New and Expecting Parents

  1. Nose Frida – One of the best baby inventions EVER. Under $20!
  2. Owlet Smart Sock Monitor – One of the most ingenious baby inventions ever. The Owlet Smart Sock 2 baby monitor uses clinically-proven technology to track infant’s heart rate and oxygen levels and alerts parents if there’s an issue.
  3. Owl Night Light – Battery operated and cool to the touch. Under $10!
  4. Diono Stroller Fan – This conveniently adjustable fan attaches easily to strollers and other surfaces to keep the breeze flowing. Amazing for long summer walks and trips to the beach! Under $20!
  5. Infant Tooth Brush – It’s never too early to start brushing! Brushing an infants teeth after feeding helps prevent cavities in the future.
  6. Stylish Warm Blanket – Ideal accessory for the car seat, stroller or cot – I’m just obsessed with the design!
  7. Video Baby Monitor – Three separate lens types allow you to zoom in and you can even talk back to your baby.
  8. Bath Support – It’s ergonomically designed to fit baby’s body and has soft, non-slip mesh that feels good against baby’s skin while keeping them in place and can fit in most sinks and bathtubs comfortably. Under $20!
  9. 4Moms Baby Rocker – Moves around and sways just like parents do. It can also link to your smartphone to control the speed, sound, and motion.

Some of the best gifts a parent can get are the practical ones that make every day easier. One of the best and most used items from this list was the NoseFrida. We still use it every time Loggy get a runny nose. If the new baby is getting anything for Christmas this year, let it be the NoseFrida.

  1. Bath Tub Crayons – Fun for bathtime to draw on the tub and tiles. Easily wash off after with water and soap. Under $5!
  2. Play Center – This jumper is so much fun! Babies can jump, play and make music all on this play center.
  3. Soother Toy – The only toy a newborn has. The soft little buddy at the end is perfect for little hands to grab onto and is soothing and comforting.
  4. Play Set – Includes all of baby’s first playtime favorites – keys, cups and elephant car.
  5. Soft and Squish Activity Centre – Beep-Beep & Play is a sit-in play car with a clicking steering wheel, light-up dashboard, rear-view mirror, and an engine that revs and plays music when the key is inserted. There’s even a storage cup on the side and a mesh trunk in the rear to take favorite toys along for the ride.
  6. Baby Walker – Theses are illegal in Canada but we somehow got one anyways. It was Loggy’s favorite thing for the early months when he couldn’t walk. It gave me a much-needed break and I think it’s what helped him take his first steps at 7 months!
  7. Bath Letter and Numbers – A fun and cost-friendly gift! Under $5.
  8. Sophie the Elephant – A cute and toxin free teether for little ones.

We’ve had all of these toys, and I can personally say that they were all used A LOT. I can’t even recommend one the most because we have played with every single one until the end of it’s play time.

  5. Backpack Diaper Bag – I love mine! I even use it sometimes as a backpack when we go out for the day.
  6. Baby Sitting Coupons – These can’t be bought at any store – they take way more time, effort and love than just picking up any old present. One gift that I always wanted to get was a night off or babysitter coupons. When the baby is so little, there is no one I trusted with him except for family. Sleepless night, after sleepless night, there is only one thing I want: to eat a hot meal, have a shower and maybe catch a quick nap. Babysitter coupons can be the most amazing gift that a new parent could ever get!
  7. Nose Frida – I just have to share this one more time. Moms will seriously be happy!
