So… We were strolling through Walgreens, just to pick up some normal things. As I was standing in the hair care aisle getting my favorite hair styling product for the summer – Schwarzkopf® göt2b® glued® spiking glue (which is the only thing that holds a curl in my hair in the summer humidity, btw) – something caught my eye and I decided it was time to make a change.
For weeks, I’ve been lusting after the beautiful metallic hair colors and the new styling trends. I picked up this box of Schwarzkopf® göt2b® Color and the color Urban Mauve just spoke to me – It’s one of the hottest hair colors this year! For a few months now, I’ve been rocking this blonde long bob and not really turning any heads. It’s about time that I made a change and the summer is the perfect time for me to do it. With the new season comes the perfect chance for me to express my individuality.
Making a Change Isn’t As Hard As You Might Think
In the past, I have dabbled in the at-home hair coloring game quite a bit. I’ve made myself pumpkin orange, icy blonde, and even conquered a shadow root. I know my way around an at-home hair coloring kit, and the göt2b® Color is super easy! There are only 3 steps to get the perfect metallic color, and everything you need comes right inside the box.
Whether this is a first or tenth time trying at home hair color, you will be able to get it perfect! I love Walgreens because they have everything I need for my beauty routine. Whether I’m making a snap decision to change up my hair color or stopping in for some new gloss, I know I’ll be finding the brands I love at prices my wallet loves. Plus, I love the thrill of couponing. Walgreens offers so many great weekly sales and coupons for beauty, that I don’t even have to feel bad about it! These are the coupons I used to score my deals this week!

For the dye, I simply mix the color with the developer and shake to activate. Once mixed, I applied it all over my hair starting at the top to get a seamless Urban Mauve. The color takes between 20-30 minutes to process, but I started to see the change within a few minutes. After a rinse and wash, I applied the after-color treatment, and my hair was so soft after! Then I just lightly dried on cool with my blow dryer.
What do you think of my before and after?
I really wanted to create this Urban Mermaid type of look. So, I used the remaining dye on my tape in hair extensions. I used a mixture of 16-20 inches to give a good variety of texture and length. I followed the same coloring steps as with my real hair, then just washed and dried. Right after I finished the coloring process, I applied them under my crown.
Now Comes My FAVORITE Part
I absolutely love everything about styling my hair – especially after a fresh new color and adding some length, nothing makes me feel like expressing myself more! What I originally went into Walgreens for is my all-time favorite hair styling product, Spiking Glue. No matter what hairstyle I’m going for – waves, straight, ponytail, braid or curls – the Schwarzkopf® göt2b® glued® spiking glue sets my hair and glues it into my desired look.
How I Use Spiking Glue to Get Loose Curls
I use between a dime and quarter sized amount of the Spiking Glue. I start by rubbing the glue around my hands and getting them completely tacky. I then start to lightly apply from the mid of my hair to my ends. I take a tiny bit on my finger and use it to tame my flyaways and stray hairs. Then I just brush through. The Spiking Glue dries fairly quickly and my hair is ready to style. I think every modern mermaid needs some loose and bouncy curls. With my 1.5-inch curling iron, I start at the bottom and work my way to the top. My secret tip for blending in natural hair with extensions is to use a comb and lightly tease the hair together. I love the Schwarzkopf® göt2b® glued® spiking glue because it holds the hair together and makes it blend together perfectly.
Aren’t I an Urban Mauve Mermaid ready for a summer in the city?
