Less than 24 hours in Miami, this should be fun…
We had one day to spend in Miami before heading back home from our Florida Keys road trip. Miami is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been to. There is so much to see and so much to do, only have 24 hours wasn’t enough for us. I’m hoping to head back soon (maybe on a bachelorette getaway with my bridesmaids) because there is so much more I wanted to see! I mean, we didn’t even get to make it to my favorite part, South Beach.
Where We Stayed
We drove straight from Key Largo to our hotel, Circa 39. I actually found Circa 39 while I was searching one day on Instagram. I fell in love with their orange and green bedroom décor and well, that was it. I booked it right after and was looking forward to staying right beside the beach. The hotel is really beautiful and is designed with so much attention to detail. There is no spot in Circa 39 that isn’t insta or photo worthy. It’s quite literally like staying in an interior designers dream! Our room was located on the first floor with a pretty view of the pool. We had a huge comfy King bed which was much needed after our hot drive.
After resting in our room for a little bit, we headed out to explore the hotel a little bit more. In the center, they have a small courtyard that is shaded with beautiful greenery and plants. There are different board games, hammocks, picnic tables, and swings to sit on while you play. Every day in the courtyard from 3-6 pm, they offer a Jazz and drinks celebration – filled with cool music and refreshingly icy smoothies.
Beach Adventures
After a quick blended drink, we decided to grab our towels and head over to the beach. It’s a very quick walk (2 minutes) across the street to the Miami Boardwalk, then over to the beach. Beachfront you can find chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas – which are all rented out by various hotels for a cost. We found these really cute ones about 2 minutes up the beach and we just had to stop for a full-on photoshoot.
Dinner & Dessert
Circa 39 has a full-service fresh kitchen, Jules Kitchen. The menu is filled with different options to satisfy every mood. We opted for Greek Nachos – which I’ve never had before, but are so amazing! It was pita pieces with feta cheese, olives, tomatoes, onion, and peppers. Brandon chose Chicken Wings and a Classic Burger. We took them to go before we headed out to the beach to enjoy them in the sand. It was great after a swim in the ocean to have dinner by the ocean.
When we came back to our hotel and got cleaned up, we headed back down to the pool area. Here they have really comfortable cabanas that are perfect for a relaxing evening. We ordered two Tito’s and cranberry and sipped while taking occasional dips in the pool. In the evening the pool is shaded by the hotel but is still very warm. I think we sat by the pool until about 9 pm. Before heading in for the night, we had to try the dessert from Jules Kitchen. We ordered the Vanilla Buttercream Cake along with a Grilled Cheese (hmm?) to eat in bed. For some reason, this was the perfect combination and the cake specifically was just perfect.
Quick Morning in Miami Beach
We didn’t have much time this morning because we had a scheduled appointment. Next door to Circa 39 is a small café, Primo Café & Market. They offer different all-day breakfast options, along with lunch options too. I brought us back some breakfast sandwiches that we ate in our room while packing up before heading home.
Last Minute Tattoos in Miami
Probably the most random part of our trip. Before heading to Miami, I found John’s page on Instagram (I find most things on Instagram, it’s part of the job right) and decided to connect for a last-minute activity. We had been wanting to get matching tattoos for a while, but it was never something we actually went an did. We had about 5 hours before we needed to be at the airport, so why not? We met with John who guided us through the design process really easily. I spent the entire night before on Pinterest looking at tiny tattoo ideas. He helped us both design our tattoos so they were similar but different. John is located at Ink Masters Miami and he specializes in neo-traditional and tiny tattoos!
We finally made it back home to Toronto and I was so happy to see Loggy. I will never forget the look on his face when he woke up and was like ‘Mommy?’. We had the best couple’s getaway trip. I don’t think I will ever forget the memories we made in Florida – especially since they are now tattooed on my body forever.
Now that we’ve been to Miami a few times, I will be sharing a Travel Guide, highlighting all of the best places to stay, eat and see. Stay Tuned!
